A Steam Engine Powered by a Solar Furnace
I've always wanted to build a steam engine.....
I'd like to build a parabolic solar trough concentrator, about 8 square
meters in size (equivalent to 8 kW of power) to boil water and generate
low-pressure steam
This steam would be used to power a small two-cylinder self-starting
steam engine (which I want to build myself...), which in turn will
turn a permanent magnet electric motor wired as a generator. Similar
to my (already working) hydro-electric system.
